You have probably heard of the term, "Don't blow a gasket." Well, there is a good reason to never blow a gasket in your vehicle. Here's a look at what a gasket is and what it does for your car, truck or SUV.

A gasket is protective barrier that will serve two important functions. First, a gasket will prevent the vehicles liquids and gases from escaping from the wrong areas of your vehicle. Second, a gasket will prevent outside elements from contaminating a vehicle's internal parts. Gaskets are located all over a vehicle. In fact, the average vehicle will have hundreds of gaskets.

It is important that you have your vehicles gaskets checked on a regular bases. An old gasket can fail and lead to big problems that can cause a vehicle breakdown or permanent parts damage. Try to have your gaskets inspected at least once per year.
